About Course Modules
5-Day Course
The 5-day course covers four modules: Laser Hair Removal & Microdermabrasion, IPL, Fraxel Laser, and Botox & Fillers. These modules can also be taken individually, although if you take them all together, you will save $2,000.
1. Laser Hair Removal & Microdermabrasion (2 Days)
In this comprehensive two-day course, you will learn how to use lasers for hair reduction and how to repair skin with microdermabrasion. Lessons will be didactic in a small classroom setting with slides and provided course materials, as well as hands-on with live clients.
Laser Hair Removal Learning Objectives
- Discuss how lasers work, how to operate them, how they impact the skin and hair follicle, and what areas are safe and effective for hair reduction.
- Introduction to the Cutera® CoolGlide® Laser, one of the most popular hair removing technologies on the market.
- You will learn the protocol of hair removal, such as applying topical anesthesia, cooling the target area, safe laser calibrations according to skin type, how to get great results, and what to tell the patient to expect during this six- to ten-procedure process.
Microdermabrasion Learning Objectives
- Known as the “lunchtime peel,” you will learn about the mechanical abrasion of the skin using aluminum oxide crystals. This procedure is currently in high demand.
- You will learn which pigment and fine line issues this procedure can affect, and how it abrades dead surface skin and allows for better penetration of product.
- You will know when to use microdermabrasion to prep skin before more aggressive treatments or use it on its own as a “no-downtime” treatment.
- You will use the Bella Derma equipment to learn proper usage on face and body.
2. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) (1 Day)
Sometimes called photorejuvenation or photo facial, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a solution to your patients’ sun damage, wrinkles, stretch marks, and age spots. It is also efficient in hair removal. This one-day, hands-on course is didactic in a small classroom setting. We will review slides and course materials will be provided.

- Develop a solid foundation of knowledge in IPL: from wavelengths to pulses and pulse duration, laser classification, light intensity, and spot size.
- Learn how to identify vascular and skin pigmented lesions, rosacea, port wine stains, sun damage, spider veins, and how to treat them with IPL.
- Find out how to use IPL to tighten skin, reduce wrinkles, acne, and broken capillaries.
- Study in-depth the proper safety precautions when using IPL, such as preventative measures, setting pre- and post-treatment expectations, regulatory measures for safety, risks, and how to handle side-effects.
3. Fraxel® Laser (1 Day)
The family of Fraxel® lasers has taken the skin care community by storm. Its praises have been sung by celebrities and movie stars, and it has been in countless technology features in the media. This hands-on and didactic class will teach you how to use the Fraxel® Re:fine™ laser.

y job in a corporate nursing setting was downsized and I was no longer going to have a job. This course gave me the confidence to pick up and move on. It gave me the skills to be self-sufficient and support myself and my family, while still using my nursing skills.”
